SONG OF MYSELF BY WALT WHITMAN Walt Whitman was an American poet, essayist, and journalist. A humanist he was part of the transition between transcendentalism and realism incorporating both views in his works. One of his works is 52 section poem "SONG OF MYSELF" that is included in his work "Leaves of Grass" which talks about "INDIVIDUASLIM". This poem talks about myself, man has an individual self where he is both individual and universal whereas the world has a universal self. The poet wants to maintain the identity of oneself and how it merges with the universal self. The main aspects he talks about the idea of self, the identity of oneself, and the relationship of oneself with the world and universe.
